First Presidential Election Debate

On December 28, 2018, the General Election Commission (KPU) along with two successful teams of presidential and vice-presidential candidates agreed on two names who would be moderators in the first debate on the 2019 Presidential Election. Ira Koesno and Imam Priyono.

Issue

Foreign loans

The amount of Indonesia's foreign debt is in the spotlight of the Prabowo-Sandi team's criticism of incumbent Joko Widodo. Prabowo. Prabowo considered that the government owed a lot to import food, not to increase production. Prabowo assesses, with greater debt, the country will weaken. He then stated that at present the government intends to import 100% of the fuel.

On the other hand, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan stated that Indonesia's debt ratio is still relatively low, which is only about 29% of the value of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This figure is far below the maximum target of the debt to GDP ratio, which is 60% as mandated by law. He also stated that the good performance of the government can be seen from the small inflation, which is at 3.5% -4%.

Indonesian economic conditions

One of the economic issues discussed is about the amount of Gross Domestic Income per Capita. On December 23, 2018, before the congregation of the Qur'anic Interpretation Council on Ronggowarsito Street, Solo City, Prabowo stated that Indonesia's GDP per capita is now on par with a number of poor countries in the African Continent. Prabowo said that the poor countries were Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Haiti, Chad, and small islands such as Kiribati. Prabowo revealed, this fact is ironic considering that Indonesia is the highest palm oil producer in the world.

On December 27, 2018, Tempo issued a report on the comparison of Indonesia's economic conditions with the countries mentioned by Prabowo. The data shows that Indonesia's per capita GDP based on a balance of shopping capabilities is at $ 11,900, far above Haiti ($ 1,830), Chad ($ 1,920), Rwanda ($ 1,990), and Kiribati ($ 3,850).

Controversy

Issue of dowry

Starting from the cuitan Deputy Secretary General of the Democratic Party Andi Arief about giving compensation for the election of vice presidential candidates to PKS and PAN of 1 trillion rupiah, this case has been traced by bawaslu and stated that this issue is not true.

The hashtag "# 2019GantiPresiden" was first conceived by PKS politician Mardani Sera, at first the tagar was not disputed, but later this hashtag began to be questioned because of its existence in the form of declarations in various regions. Addressing these hashtags appears like "# Jokowi2Periode" and "# 2019TetapJokowi". The hashtag "# 2019GantiPresiden" was considered too controversial by Prabowo-Sandi supporters, because of the many cases that caused conflict in the area, it was echoed with a new hashtag "# 2019PrabowoPresiden".

Expulsion of Neno Warisman

Neno Warisman is a member of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno's National Winning Team. On August 25, 2018, Neno Warisman got an ambush from hundreds of people at the gate of Sultan Syarif Kasim Airport (SSK) II Pekanbaru, Riau, and finally decided to return to Jakarta.

Neno came to Pekanbaru on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 2:30 a.m., to attend the # 2019 Presidential Declaration event which was held the following day, 26 August 2018. Upon arriving at Pekanbaru SSK II airport, hundreds of people had blocked access to the area and blocked the Neno car Warisman. The mob carried banners containing the refusal of the # 2019 declaration. Change President and was seen climbing over a fence and burning tires on the road. Police and TNI officers immediately closed the airport exit gate and tightened security. In the midst of the mass action, lawyer Neno Warisman, Mursal Fadillah, quarreled with one of the police officers.

The crowd remained until 17.00 and refused to disband. Seeing conditions that were not conducive, the police decided to forcibly disperse the masses. The police chased the crowd to Sudirman Street and Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution. A few minutes later, a mob arrived in the name of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) and the Riau Malay army who wanted to release Neno Warisman.

Around 17:30 WIB, a group of youths clashed. These young men were allegedly the masses who were the pros and cons of the declaration of # 2019, President of the Republic of Pekanbaru. The clash was quickly secured by security officers. Officers were also seen chasing a group of young men around the location of the clash. Officers also had time to forbid journalists from covering the chaotic conditions.

The crowd who wanted to pick up Neno Warisman tried to negotiate with the police. However, the request was not granted with security considerations. The crowd finally dispersed at night. However, the officer still decided not to allow Neno Warisman to continue his activities in Pekanbaru. Around 10:30 p.m., Neno Warisman finally returned to Jakarta after seven hours were held at the airport gate.

Responding to this expulsion, Parta Gerindra called it an act of persecution and condemned his actions. Gerindra also regretted the decision of the Police not to secure and control the people who did the demonstration. Deputy House Speaker Fahri Hamzah also asked President Joko Widodo to intervene to deal with the raid. In addition, Fahri also questioned the neutrality of the security apparatus in this case. After this event, Neno Warisman also provided evidence in the form of photos and videos to the Deputy Chairperson of the DPR in the field of Coordinator for Politics, Law and Security Fadli Zon. Fadli Zon confirmed that the House of Representatives would immediately follow up on the complaint.

On the other hand, the Riau Regional Police denied that the mass treatment that confronted Neno Warisman at the gate of Sultan Syarif Kasim (SSK) II Pekanbaru Airport was an act of persecution. The reason for Neno Warisman's own return was more due to security reasons, given the fact that the pros and cons had gathered and the situation was hot.

Hoax Ratna Sarumpaet

Ratna Sarumpaet is one of the members of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno's National Winning Team who tripped over the Hoax case in 2018. The news of the persecution of Ratna Sarumpaet by a group of unidentified people first appeared on October 2, 2018. The persecution news was accompanied by screenshots of Whatsapp applications and photos Ratna Sarumpaet in an unnatural face condition. The content then went viral and was uploaded again and justified by several political figures without verifying the truth of the news. After being widely discussed, the content of the hoax was responded to by the police who conducted the investigation after getting three reports of alleged hoaxes at the news.

Based on the results of the Police investigation, Ratna is known not to be treated in 23 hospitals and has never reported to 28 police stations in Bandung within the period from September 28 to October 2, 2018. When the incident was mentioned on September 21, Ratna was known not to be in Bandung. The results of the investigation showed that Ratna came to Menteng Bina Estetika Hospital, Central Jakarta, on September 21, 2018 at around 17:00 WIB. The police said Ratna had made an operating agreement on September 20, 2018 and stayed until September 24. The police also found a number of evidences in the form of transactions from Ratna's account to the clinic.

On October 3, Ratna admitted that she had lied about the attack to hide her plastic surgery from her own family. He was quoted by the Tempo newspaper as saying "it turns out that I am the creator of the best hoax, my lie has shocked the country". He was later dismissed from the 2019 presidential election campaign Prabowo Subianto. The next day, Ratna was detained by police at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, where he said he would fly to Chile to attend an international conference.

As a member of the Prabowo-Sandi National Winning Team, hoaxes carried out by activist Ratna Sarumpaet made the candidate number 02 presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno left behind by college-level voters, and the upper middle class. Denny JA's Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) survey results show support for Prabowo - Sandiaga from the segment of college graduates voters has decreased quite dramatically during the range from September to October 2018. In September support for them was 46.8 percent while in October it was 37 , 4 percent. On the contrary, support for Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin from this segment is rising. From originally 40.5 percent in September, to 44 percent in October. In addition, Prabowo-Sandiaga was left out of the voter segment with income of more than Rp 3 million which was classified as the upper middle class. Support for Prabowo-Sandiaga dropped from 43.8 percent in September, to 34.5 percent in October. While Jokowi rose from 46.2 percent to 54.8 percent.

The conclusions of Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and indepth interview show the reason for the reduced support for Prabowo-Sandiaga in both segments is accessibility to social media and dislike of leaders who are easily fooled.
